Faggots have been used for a variety of purposes over many centuries.
Heating: Bakers' ovens, laundries, homes and premises.
Ditches: Faggots are placed at the bottom of ditches then covered with earth. When buried in this way they last a very long time and are excellent at soaking away water during periods of high rainfall.
Rivers: Faggots are used to re-establish and repair banks, build otter holts and to change the flow characteristics of rivers.
Hazel Wattle Products have supplied faggots for rivers, canals and lakes all over the country.
